Shifting cascara |
Trickier than the sands of the Sahara
The cascara moves by 1/2 a beat and the rhythm moves from mambo to guaguanco with a new start point and back.
This is acheived by playing the the cascara accentuating the second note of each 'double' played (a common salsa pulse).
It then plays only the accentuated notes, and if you look, the spaces left played by the other hand , become the new
cascara but with a new start point. Easy. You just have to get the rest of the band to play it now !
